Sound artist, practicing deep listening as a starting point for sound activism. Studied with Pauline Oliveros and learned Hindustani Raga in Varanasi/India. Interested in voice as a bridge between the public and private sphere; listening, singing, and improvisation as a practice of social resistance. She records and analyse the sonosphere of protests as well as organises sound walks, workshops, and warm-ups before street demonstrations. Using extended voice techniques, radio waves, field recording and electronics - she creates an audiosphere for her personal and collaborative performance works. She co-creates the Warsaw-based community Radio Kapitał and is the author of poetic radio plays and interventions. From 2020 to 2021 she was a resident of the experimental studio WORM in Rotterdam; permanent collaborator of the interdisciplinary platform Q-O2 based in Brussels.
"DOMESTIC FLIGHTS" is her interpretation of Pauline Oliveros 1st "Sonic Meditation".
In her own words:
"The musical outcome engages the whole body and imagination. It
can be immersive, one can feel the physicality of the tones.
The suggestion of the engine sound, changing altitude, tiny sound-events in drone-monotony, full of interference. I often think about this exercise as an experiment in self-care, an embrace during a long and lonely flight." - Edyta Jarząb
