“Gaymers’ Cheatsheet” was born in the realms of camp. It’s pretty obvious from the 1st notes of bubblegum-like, fluorescent energy explosions. It is also quirky and hyperpop - from the first to the last second. It’s an ode to the frivolous, queer and colourful domain. It almost feels like RYTERSKI exploded it out of his very own body in the shape of a spectacular rainbow. The sound of it is very far from what we assume to be “contemporary music” (remember Rafał Ryterski has exactly this academic background as a composer) and what we love about it is that it feels like the manifesto of boundless creative freedom and imaginative sound design taken to the highest hights. Please don’t forget it’s also the tribute to RYTERSKI’S fav video games. For example Blacephalon is a Pokemon. Its slender torso and wide hips are yellow with alternating blue and pink stripes - and maybe that’s the best blurb for this piece of music.

Rafał Ryterski
Composer, activist, multimedia artist, gaymer. The synthesis of the various styles from which he draws is a hallmark of his work. He distinguishes three main aesthetic tendencies in his music: glitch, noise, and idm. Most of his pieces involve multimedia, software and sometimes physical electronic devices, giving him an opportunity to explore new identities for acoustic instruments. Ryterski is also involved in concert organization and music education.
His music ranges from house, idm and glitch to contemporary music. Thematically, Ryterski's art oscillates around the concept of identity, queer culture and exposing the mechanisms of violence.

He uses electronic and digital media in his work, which - through sometimes extreme content processing - gives him the opportunity to search for new identities for acoustic instruments, performers or even space. Since 2020, he has also been working in theatrical spaces, composing music for theatre plays, sometimes creating them by himself. In 2021, he was nominated for Paszporty Polityki (polish cultural prize) in the classical music category for his consistent introduction of LGBTQ themes to Polish contemporary music.

Ryterski graduated in composition with a multimedia specialization at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and in classical composition at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. He is also a lecturer himself, participating in various types of symposia and various projects as a specialist in the field of composition, sound art and technology. His music is performed as part of many music events in Poland and abroad. He also organizes various music or multimedia productions, such as Atlas / Łąka (Warsaw 2015, together with the Academic Choir of the University of Warsaw), opera Anonymous (4 voices, 15 instruments, electronics and visualizations, Warsaw 2017 and Lublin 2020), Robots, Arduino and Game over (in cooperation with the Kwartludium ensemble and Teoniki Rożynek, Kraków, Gdańsk and Warsaw 2019), or We're here (in cooperation with Katarzyna Kalwat, as part of the Warsaw Autumn 2021 festival, the very first concert in Poland that was focusing on showcasing only LGBTQ+ composers).

In addition, he creates multimedia installations commissioned by other creators, using programs and means such as Max / MSP software (Silence Inside, in cooperation with Anna Sincini, 2015), SuperCollider (Suns, in cooperation with Łukasz Radziszewski, 2017), or using microcontrollers and microcomputers (Katyń. Teoria Barw, a play directed by Wojciech Faruga, with music by Teonika Rożynek).
