OPLA is the duo of Hubert Zemler and Piotr Bukowski. In their music they reinterpret traditional Polish dances, such as the "oberek". On GTI, their album for Pointless Geometry, you can hear oberek phrases and tripartite metros embellished with electronic sounds. They create a plastic, surreal world rooted in deep traditions of folk music.

Hubert Zemler is a Warsaw-based percussionist, composer and free improviser moving between musical categories. Renowned interpreter of new music, jazz drummer, author of solo albums on the borderline of avant-garde, electronics and ethnic music and creator of soundtracks for films and animations. An active member of the Warsaw independent music scene centered around the LADO ABC association. He co-creates bands Melatony, Magneto (together with Bartłomiej Tyciński, Piotr Domagalski and Miłosz Pękala), Opla (with Piotr Bukowski), CEL (with Felix Kubin). He also collaborates with a contemporary music ensemble Hashtag Ensemble and the group Mitch & Mitch.

Piotr Bukowski is a Polish guitarist, composer, creator of music videos and theater and film music scores. Associated with the Warsaw music scene around Lado ABC. Founder of the bands Stwory, Xenony, Hokei. Currently a member and co-founder of the afro-punk band Javva. Together with Hubert Zemler, he co-creates the duo OPLA, which released two albums: debut Obertasy (2019) and - with saxophonist Mikołaj Trzaska and writer Andrzej Stasiuk - ("Opla Stasiuk Trzaska") OST (2021).

A recording that touches something ancient in us and brings a shift to places not yet discovered. It's hard to describe in any sensible way something that definitely mixes the spirit of Palestrina with the legacy of minimalism, reductionism and improvisation, although that's not really important here.
